]]> England all-rounder Sam Curran is back to the IPL with a bang as he has grabbed the most expensive player contract ever in the history of the league. In the IPL auction 2023, Punjab Kings signed Sam Curran for a whopping INR 18.50 crore.

Curran was part of the Punjab Kings squad in the IPL 2019 season after which they released him and then Chennai Super Kings bought him for INR 5.5 crore. He played for the CSK team in two seasons then was released after the 2022 season.

Seeing his brilliant match-winning form in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, Punjab Kings decided to invest big chunks into him for one more time. Curran was awarded the Player of the Match in the T20 World Cup 2022 in which his team, England lifted the T20 World Cup trophy for the 2nd time after defeating Pakistan in the final.

The 24-year-old Sam Curran has played 145 T20 matches so far in which he has smashed 1731 runs and picked 149 wickets.
